Nutrheff – Nutraceutical Health Enhancing Functional Food, is the network created in 2014 by the Department of Biology, Agriculture and Food Sciences of the National Research Council of Italy (DiSBA-CNR). The network has the purpose of enabling collaboration among scientists, fostering progress and dissemination of scientific research and technological development in the field of nutraceutics and functional food. This research area is currently growing in interest and results and has gained even greater strength after the global health crisis and the renewed awareness from consumers of the close link between nutrition and well-being. In Italy, as in most Countries, nutraceutic and functional food commercial opportunities are growing fast, mainly as industrial production. On the other hand, scientific research would benefit from an enhanced coordination of the various specialized individual expertises. This network is designed to collect and connect the copious know-how provided by CNR researchers in basic sciences and applied research. Both industry and consumers would take advantage of a multidisciplinary approach, aimed to contribute to nutraceutics and functional food innovation, efficacy and safety guarantees enhancement.
