Nutraceuticals and foods of interestWe conduct in-depth behavioural analysis of inbred and mutant mouse models of neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases in which dietary interventions could ameliorate symptoms or even act as disease-modifying factors. Facilities and equipments IBBC is equipped with a state-of-the-art animal house and coordinates the European Mouse Mutant Archive (EMMA) animal facility and the Monterotondo Mouse Clinic (MMC). These research facilities are devoted to the large-scale, standardised production, primary phenotypic analysis, cryopreservation and dissemination of novel murine mutant models of human diseases and their bioinformatic resources. Molecular Facility - Tissue culture room: fully equipped for basic research in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology. Behavioural Neurobiology Facility - equipped for in-depth behavioural analysis of mouse models of neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases for the study of motor and cognitive functions, social and emotional behaviours by using automated systems and ethologically based direct observations. Also available an advanced system of mouse home cage monitoring (DVC) for the measure of physiological and behavioural parameters, long-term and non-invasively. |
