Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
Use of Smart packaging technology in solving conventional food packaging problems and in meeting the evolving packaged fresh food market needs. Applications of these techniques to monitor the quality, the freshness and the spoilage of food. The advantages of using such a system lies in extending the shelf life of products, ensuring the safety and the compliance of these packages while reducing the food waste. New concepts and technologies used in smart packaging such as sensors, indicators, and data carriers integrated with sensors, are developed to monitor and provide a dynamic output about the quality and safety of the packaged products.

Fields of application
Use of smart packaging technologies for monitoring and extending the shelf-life quality of packaged food: application of high barrier materials, intelligent sensors and controlled release systems

Facilities and equipments
Fully equipped R&D laboratories, including synthesis, preparation, processing and physical-chemical and morphological laboratories for polymer and composites characterization: GPC, rheology, SEM & TEM, morphological (SAXS-WAXD), mechanical (static and dynamic dynamometers), thermal (TGA, DMA, DSCR, TMA) and spectroscopic (FTIR, Imaging, FTIR-rheometer, RAMAN, NMR) characterization, processing and electrospinning lab, 3D prototipying lab, Surface characterization (contact angle and nanoindenter), transport mass lab (water and oxygen permeabilimeters, gases sorption balance)
