Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
Bioactive compounds acting on skeletal metabolism (mainly antioxidant stress response and Wnt signaling) and potentially useful to treat bone loss. Compounds could be tested in vitro and in vivo in relevant animal models. This research interest is shared with Dr E. Palagano (IBBR, Florence). Complementary expertise and equipment allow moving from the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds to their assessment under conditions of increasing complexity and relevance for human disease

Keywords: Terpene, essential oils, skeletal disease, bone loss, molecular mechanism, oxidative stress, Wnt signaling

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
Aromatic plants and essential oils

Fields of application
Food supplements, bone health, skeletal diseases, bone loss
