Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
Research focus on bioactive compound identification and characterization of their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Use of techniques ranging from biochemistry to molecular/cellular biology (e.g. gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, toxicity assays). The close collaboration with Cristina Sobacchi’s group (IRGB, Milan) allows to study the molecular mechanisms underlying nutraceutical compounds in vitro and in vivo with particular attention to skeletal diseases such as osteoporosis

Keywords: Terpene, molecular mechanism, essential oils, skeletal disease, osteoporosis

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
Aromatic plants and essential oils

Fields of application
Food supplements, disease prevention, pharmacology, skeletal and osteoporosis pathologies

Facilities and equipments
An Agilent 7820 Gas Chromatograph system equipped with a 5977E MSD with EI ionization is present in Marco Michelozzi’s lab (IBBR-CNR, Florence)
