Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
Our laboratory is well established in the field of chemotherapy-induced senescence, in human and murine cancer cell models. We have no specific expertise in nutraceuticals, but we have been involved in studying drugs that modulate survival of senescent tumor cells and their secretome (senotherapeutics). Recently, we set up an experimental cell system which allows for the identification of factors and drugs modulating evasion from senescence.

Keywords: Therapy-induced senescence, Escape, senolytic drugs, senotherapy.

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
We are interested in identification of senotherapeutic compounds, which can modulate the SASP in an anti-tumor way, and in identification of compounds that can target senescence-associated cancer stem cells involved in evasion from senescence..

Fields of application
Identification of senotherapeutic compounds. Identification of compounds targeting cancer stem cells that evade therapy-induced senescence.

Facilities and equipments
The laboratory uses human and mouse cell lines for studying the molecular mechanisms of therapy-induced senescence. ELISA plate readers are used for checking cell viability in multi-well plates. Inflammatory SASP factors are assayed using Luminex technology. PCR and Real-time PCR (Bio-Rad) are used for quantitative analysis of mRNA and gene expression.
