Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
Research interest and expertise concerns the study of respiratory immunopathology and pharmacology studies on in vitro/ex vivo 3D experimental models. Furthermore, this activity concerned the study cigarette smoking and environmental pollutants effects. Recently, much interest has focused on nutraceuticals, or dietary antioxidant, as resveratrol (a natural polyphenol compound, common fruits and vegetables) which anti-inflammatory properties and exert pleiotropic effects on inflammatory cells.

Keywords: dietary antioxidant, Resveratrol, lung inflammation, asthma, COPD, allergy

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
Red grape varieties, red wines, cabbage, curcumin, olive oil and its compounds, vitamins, probiotics

Fields of application
The focus of our activities is to study the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant biological activities of nutraceutical substances. The field of applications of our studies is associated with chronic inflammatory diseases of the respiratory and intestinal apparatus. We will use 3D in vitro/ ex vivo models of disease to identify new and alternative treatment to the conventional therapy using nutraceutical compounds.
