Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
Interest: development and application of spectroscopic indices for the non-destructive assessment of nutraceuticals. Expertise: Non-destructive monitoring of antioxidants (anthocyanins and flavonols) by portable optical sensors based on chlorophyll fluorescence screening method; mapping of spatial and temporal variability of fruit ripening; quality control pre- and post-harvest.

Keywords: anthocyanins, flavonols, antioxidants, chlorophyll fluorescence, portable sensors, fluorescence spectroscopy, mapping.

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
anthocyanins, flavonols. Wine grape and table grape, vegetables, coffee.

Fields of application
Precision agriculture. Optimization of the harvest date, quality control of fruit and vegetables, calibration and validation of the optical indices on specific plant products grown in different environmental conditions (levels of light intensity, soil nutrient) in order to differentiate their antioxidant content; definition of new methods of selection of vegetable raw materials based on their antioxidant content; storability and post-harvest treatments control; recovery of nutraceuticals from fruit and vegetable waste.

Facilities and equipments
The proximal sensors Dualex and Multiplex (Force A), a spectrophotometer and spectrofluorimeter
