Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
in vivo mouse model and in vitro (cells) morphofunctional studies of the effect on brain functioning, neurogenesis, aging, addictive and compulsive behaviors, and energy homeostasis. Identification and characterization of biomolecular mechanisms regulating the antinflammatory effects of nutraceuticals and functional foods on the cell metabolism of neurons and glia at level of synaptic plasticity, in physiological and pathological conditions.

Keywords: brain, synapse, obesity, cell metabolism, aging neurogenesis,cannabinoids

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
(endo)cannabinoids-like molecules and microbiota-derived endocannabinoid-like metabolites affecting the brain via gut-brain axis

Fields of application
Neuroscience, Cell biology,Metabolism, Physiology; Medicinal Chemistry, Food Sciences;

Facilities and equipments
Facility of Time lapse Live Cell Microscopy for functional, cellular and subcellular imaging of glia and neurons in brain slices and colture microscopy. Light, confocal and electron microscopy. Electrophysiology and optogenetics . Immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry. Mouse colony of diabetic, obese and trasngenic mice moled of neuorodegeneartion for in vivo study based on administration of diet supplemented with specific nutraceuticals of functionalized foods
