I have experience in the field of microbiology, molecular and cell biology. My interests fall in bacterial virulence factors, but recently I have also worked in the ground of neurodegeneration. My curiosity in functional food concerns the possibility of manipulating probiotic bacteria to induce them to produce and secrete bioactive molecules capable of increasing autophagy-lysosomal clearance in the host organism. These microbes could be added as probiotic in some alimentary matrix as the yogurt
