Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
1) To minimalise inputs/maximale outputs in agriculture with raw materials or by reusing/recycling waste (biochar, coconut coir dust, green compost, stabilized wood fibre), by using microorganism-based inocules (EM; PGPR) or new technologies (e.g.non-themal plasma) and relationship with product quality; 2) plant ecophysiology of both neglected/spontaneous/wild and cultivated plant species and relationship with environmental factors in order to enhance quantity and quality of (food) production; 3) sustainable future of small rural communities for the production of food from neglected plant species; 4) twitter analysis to enhance the awareness on nutraceutical products; 5) chemical and microbiological risk assessment.

Keywords: 1) product quality; 2) relationship between agricultural input and product quality; 3) plant ecophysiology and secondary metabolism; 4) neglected plants; 5) sustainable future of small rural communities; 6) twitter and its analysis to understand public awareness on nutraceutical products; 7) chemical risk assessment; 8) microbiological risk assessment.

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
plant polyphenols; plant secondary metabolism; neglected/non commercial plants potentially exploitable (i.e. nettle)

Fields of application
Soil, microrganisms, plants, chemicals, new technologies
